One of the best memories that a college student could treasure is the experience in the Juniors-Seniors Promenade.
CapSU Poblacion Mambusao Campus had its JS Prom on February 22 at the Angeles Lema Villareal Cultural Center. This annual gathering was attended juniors and seniors, together with their teachers and invited guests.
Weeks before the event, the juniors and seniors were filled with excitement as they waited for the “big night.” They were more focused on the dress they were to wear. Indeed, the occasion was attended by glamorous people wearing their stunning attires that would make them stand out.
The affair started at around 7:30 with a grand entrance of the juniors, seniors, school officials, and guest speaker. The program proper then followed with Mr. Stephen Escartin and Miss Cristina Marie Abad as Masters of Ceremonies. The opening prayer was led by Miss Lois Niss iLacson, followed by the singing of the National Anthem led by Miss Glodie Lopez. Prof. Luis T. Pula, the College Dean, then delivered his opening and welcome remarks.
The most important part of the program was the turning over and acceptance ceremony. The Torch which symbolizes truth and wisdom was turned over by Rose Ann Mangco of the seniors which was accepted by Stephen Escartin of the juniors; the Heart which symbolizes love was turned over by Jenie De los Santos to Mary Hope Layes; the Book which symbolizes wisdom and knowledge was turned over by Michelle Gen Geronimo to Augustin Borbon; the Anchor which symbolizes hope was turned over by Desire Viana to Bryan Lava; the Pen which symbolizes publicity was turned over by David Vigo to Mariel Lizada; and the Key which symbolizes service and work was turned over by Mica Gregorio to Daianarah Rose Biaco.
After that ceremony, Dr. Nelson L. Berondo, the Campus Administrator, introduced the guest speaker of the affair in the person of Atty. Arthur J. Lastimoso. After his wonderful and inspiring message, Dr. Nelson L. Berondo and Prof. Luis T. Pula awarded certificate of appreciation and token to Atty. Lastimoso.
The candle lighting ceremony and exchange of souvenirs which were also highlights of the affair then followed. To add color to the occasion, selected juniors presented a ballroom as their opening dance. As practiced in the previous years, juniors and seniors who were standouts were recognized by giving them special awards, namely: Face of the Night, Best in Dress, and Prom King and Queen. At first, nominees for every award were chosen by the faculty members and were presented. Voting then followed which involved both the students and the faculty members.
Mr. Gerald Gallardo and Miss April Diestro, both BSCS III students, got the Face of the Night award. The Best in Dress award went to Mr. Junelle Lacuesta and Ms. April Diestro, both juniors. Chosen as Prom King and Queen 2013 were Mr. Junelle Lacuesta and Ms. April Diestro again. And as they received the award, we have witnessed their first dance as the Prom King and Queen of the night.
The juniors and juniors enjoyed this last chance they could be together. The affair ended at around 12 midnight.
