Nikki L. Lopez and Shane F. Sapinoso were named Mr. and Miss CAPSU Mambusao 2021 in a virtual pageant aired on Facebook, Nov. 17.
This annual beauty pageant in the campus was momentarily shutdown last year due to the pandemic. But with the initiative of Dr. Caster A Kapunan, OSA and socio-cultural affairs chair, it was revived and was staged virtually.
The virtual pageant was conducted as part of the virtual intramural meet which was also made possible this year.
Sixteen delegates representing the four departments took part in this first-ever virtual search for Mr. and Miss CAPSU Mambusao.
The candidates aspiring to become Mr. CAPSU Mambusao 2021 were Geno B. Oroceo, Claude Wyne Trajano, Nikki L. Lopez, Marc Dominic B. Destajo, Eljaye Francis L. Laguing, Angelo G. Aringo, Mark C. Alvarez and Leonel T. Bolido.
The hopefuls for the Miss CAPSU Mambusao 2021 crown were Shane F. Sapinoso, Eriane Jane F. Olano, Mae Anne A. Alipusan, Norigay J. Bayot, Mialyn E. Evaristo, Sharlene Mhay B. Velado, Christal L. Lozada and Tristen Ara Ysabelle M. Torremaña.
During the virtual pageant, viewers witnessed wonderful students who are gifted with beauty, good looks, and intelligence. The candidates faced different challenges, namely: headshot challenge, introductory video challenge, runway challenge, swimwear, formal wear, and interview.
Weeks before the pageant, the pictures of the candidates in the headshot challenge were posted on the Facebook page of the socio-cultural affairs office. Viewers were given the chance to show their support to their bets by liking their photos.
Candidates in every challenge and those with the most liked photos on FB were chosen and given awards.
People’s Choice Award- Nikki L. Lopez and Mae Anne A. Alipusan

Best in Runway Challenge- Nikki L. Lopez and Shane F. Sapinoso
Best in Introductory Video Challenge- Nikki L. Lopez and Shane F. Sapinoso
Best in Swimwear- Marc Dominic B. Destajo and Shane F. Sapinoso
Best in Formal Wear- Nikki L. Lopez and Shane F. Sapinoso
Best in Interview- Leonel T. Bolido and Mae Anne A. Alipusan
Winning as this year’s Mr. and Miss CAPSU Mambusao were Nikki L. Lopez and Shane F. Sapinoso. Geno B. Oroceo and Mae Anne A. Alipusan were named 1st Runners-up alongside Marc Dominic B. Destajo and Norigay J. Bayot as 2nd Runners-up.
Having joined beauty pageants in the past, Lopez and Sapinoso edged out the competition. Lopez was joining pageants and modelling way back in high school while Sapinoso is the reigning Miss Com Sci of the Computer Science Department.
“Having the crown on my head is a big role to play and responsibilities to take but I will use this title to make an impact, be a role model and an inspiration to my fellow students and other people. I just want to extend my gratitude to those people behind my success, to my beloved family who supported me unconditionally, to my friends who made me so handsome during the photoshoot and video recording,” Lopez shared.
“Being the newly crowned Ms. CAPSU 2021 is an honor and pride not just for me, but for my department and the entire school. I feel thankful and blessed to those people who have pushed me through this pageant and built my self-confidence. I reassured everyone that I will do the best that I can to bring the name of our school in a delightful way,” Sapinoso said.
Lopez is a freshman taking up Bachelor of Science in Food Technology while Sapinoso is in her sophomore year in the degree Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
