The ABTech Thunders, now rebranded as the SynerG3 Thunders — a formidable coalition of Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BAEL), Bachelor of Science in Food Technology (BSFT), and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) — have once again proven they are a force to be reckoned with. The team secured yet another overall championship title in this year’s Intramural Meet, reaffirming their status as perennial champions.
The Thunders once again asserted their dominance in the Culture and the Arts Festival held during the Intramural Meet on September 22-24, showcasing undeniable flair in literary, musical, and dance competitions. Meanwhile, the Tech Titans (BS in Computer Science) stamped their authority on the field, dominating the sports and athletics events with a commanding performance.
However, true victory lies in all-around excellence. When the scores were tallied, consistency triumphed over sheer numbers. The SynerG3 Thunders emerged as Overall Champions with an impressive 197 points, outlasting the Tech Titans who finished with 160.
The triumph was fueled by the exceptional talent of BAEL, BSFT, and BSOA students, who earned massive points in the musical and dance — enough to capture the overall crown. While other teams showcased pockets of brilliance, the Thunders’ secret weapon remained their depth of involvement across all events. They never lost by default; they showed up, competed, and delivered.
In her closing remarks during the closing and awarding ceremonies, Dr. Lalaine E. Ricardo, student affairs and services chairperson, emphasized the deeper purpose of the Intramural Meet beyond competition.
“The value of games and sports is not only attributed to physical benefits, but also to one's social and personality development. That is the reason why we have this intramural meet every academic year,” Dr. Ricardo said. “For this three-day event, I hope and I believe you enjoyed, you learned something about sportsmanship, and you gained more friends — not only within your team, but even from the opposing teams — thereby establishing camaraderie among your schoolmates.”
She further added, “I don't mind whether you win or lose. Of course, congratulations to the winners. But what's important is you enjoyed the game. You did your best and overcame your shyness and all. Above all, you developed a bond with other students and schoolmates. As you played, you worked as a team, which taught you enhance social relationships and accountability, which will eventually improve your self-esteem, social interaction, and give you a more positive outlook in life.”
The continued dominance of the Thunders has ignited a strong sense of pride within the BAEL, BSFT, and now BSOA communities. Students and faculty have rallied behind the team whose legacy now spans multiple championship seasons.
As the final whistle blew and the championship banner was raised once more, one thing became clear: the thunder isn’t fading — it’s only growing stronger. With a culture built on discipline, resilience, and teamwork, the SynerG3 dynasty shows no signs of slowing down and now sets its sights on yet another championship next year, determined to keep the thunder rolling.
