Dynamic Tycoons team, composed of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration, bagged the championship title in this year’s Palarong Pampaaralan held on August 26-28, 2011 at the campus ground of CapSU Poblacion.
Three strong teams competed in the different sports and athletic events, literary-musical and visual arts contests, and the Search for Mr. &Ms. CapSU Poblacion 2011. Aside from the Dynamic Tycoons, the D’ Buggers (Bachelor of Science in Computer Science 1 & 3) and the ComTech (Bachelor of Science in Computer Science 2 &4 and Bachelor of Science in Food Technology and Entrepreneurship)also battled for the championship. This year, there were changes in the team composition. The Bachelor of Arts and the BS Food Technology and Entrepreneurship which used to be a strong team and had been a perennial champion now separated and found a new tandem. Last year, Bachelor of Arts, BS Food Technology, and BS Office Administration proved to be the strongest team up. But now despite the absence of one team AB and BSOA were able to retain their victory.
The three-day intramural meet started with a parade of the athletes, coaches, tournament officials, faculty, and students. A holy sacrifice of the mass was then celebrated. The opening program followed. The University President, Dr. Editha L. Magallanes, and the Vice-President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Aladino L. Leccio, graced the occasion. CapSU Poblacion was the first campus to hold this year’s intramural meet among the campuses of the University.
The intramural is an annual activity of the school which aims to discover potential athletes and contestants for the Inter-Campus Meet, where all campuses of CapSU compete in the different sports and athletic events and literary-musical contests. It is likewise geared towards discovering and honing the talents and skills of the students. Some of them may not be performing well in the classroom but they have abilities where they excel.
The sports and athletic events included basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, sepak takraw, chess, long jump, and high jump. In the literary-musical contest, the participants showcased their talents in oration, storytelling, poetry interpretation, impromptu speaking, talumpati, pagkukwento, dagliang talumpati, vocal solo (pop & classical), vocal duet, and folk dance. There were also essay writing, pagsusulat ng sanaysay, on-the-spot painting, and charcoal rendering.
