Dr. Berondo is new campus administrator

by Prof. Freden S. Delgado
Faculty, CapSU Poblacion Mambusao

With the expiration of the term of office of Dr. Roman V. Belleza as Campus Administrator of CapSU Poblacion, Dr. Nelson L. Berondo assumed office as the new campus administrator on June 1, 2012.

The appointment of Dr. Berondo followed after submitting his application and undergoing an interview with the selection panel of the University. He was the only applicant for the position and so it was not a big worry for him not to get the position.

Dr. Berondo had no other way to go but up. While Dr. Belleza was occupying the highest position in the campus for two years, Dr. Berondo was enjoying the next top position as College Dean.

The educational and professional background of our 57-year old campus administrator from Brgy. Burias, Mambusao, Capiz could justify that he is worthy of the position. He went to Burias Elementary School for his first step in the ladder of education. For his secondary education, he enrolled at Mambusao Agricultural and Technical College (MATEC), which soon became Panay State Polytechnic College (PSPC), and now Capiz State University. With his determination to finish a degree, he took up Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) in the same school and graduated in 1976. He also took up Master of Science in Agriculture (MSA) still at PSPC in 1988. To further enhance his knowledge in Agricultural Sciences, he studied Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Sciences at De La Salle- Araneta University and graduated in 2002.

Dr. Berondo is a hard-working man. In 1976-1982 he served as a secondary school teacher at MATEC, his Alma Mater. He then became an Instructor I in 1982-1984 at PSPC Burias and in 1984-1987, an Instructor III. He became an Assistant Professor in 1988-1992 and an Associate Professor IV in 1992-1998 in the same college. In 1999 – 2009, he became an Associate Professor V. As a fruit of his perseverance, he passed last August 11, 2009 the Accreditation for Professorialship and became a Professor I.

He likewise earned the Civil Service Eligibility, the National Board for Teachers and passed the Agriculture Officer Examination.

To broaden his expertise in the chosen field, he attended different seminars and conferences- local, provincial, regional and national.

Being a campus administrator is a challenging task. Previous campus administrators left a legacy which will always remind us of their hard work and commitment. Dr. Berondo is also expected to make his own indelible mark that will be a reflection of his administration.
