The Capiz State University, Poblacion Mambusao Campus held its Acquaintance Party last July 24 at Gugma ni Castro Gymnasium. The most awaited part of this annual celebration was the Search for What A Mess Acquaintance 2012, participated in by daring male students coming from the different departments. This was the 10th year of holding this pageant at CapSU Poblacion which started in 2003.

It is an annual tradition at CapSU Poblacion to hold a very exciting, funny show- a beauty pageant exclusive for 100% macho men. This event is considered the most entertaining, funniest and the most anticipated show of all shows held in the campus. The gymnasium was fully packed not only with CapSUnians but also with outsiders. They created screams and whistles as the alluring candidates occupied the stage.

During the production number, one by one the candidates walked on the ramp wearing the national costume of their respective chosen countries. The candidates were Jenel Llegue representing Korea; Kent Bryan F. Trinidad, Japan; Jefferson S. Ferrer, Philippines; Kristian S. Laspobres, United Kingdom; Jenhrod D. Maceda, Hawaii; Joemar E. Villacarlos, China; Wendrith L. Lacao, India; Arnel E. Vigo, Mexico; Marjohn O. Alovera, Spain; Rodne O. Llasus; Libya and Regie Lerio as Ms.Egypt.

The competition was hard for the candidates because they had to appear on stage and walk on the ramp over and over again in their school uniform, street wear and long gown. They also had a showcase of talents where they displayed their skills in dancing, lip synching, acting, “doble kara,” dance sport, interpretative dance, and even magic. Every stage of the competition was exciting. The spectators were so amazed of their new looks wearing different attires.

In the latter part of the show, they underwent the final interview. The interview did not also pass without humor. After parading their elegant long gown, Mr. Stephen Escartin and Mr. Alexis Felonia serenaded the candidates.

The announcement of the winners of the minor awards and the magic five followed. The winners were Arnel E. Vigo as Best in Talent; Jefferson S. Ferrer won the Best in Production Number, Best in School Uniform and Best in Long Gown; and Jehnrod O. Maceda got the Best in Street Wear and Best in Interview. The five finalists were Kristian S. Laspobers and Jefferson S. Ferrer of the Computer Science Department, Jenhrod O. Maceda and Arnel Vigo of the Bachelor of Arts Department and Wendrith L. Lacao of the Office Administration Department. Their wit and intelligence were tested once again in the final interview. To slightly prolong the excitement of the audience to know this year’s winner, Mr. Jose Lusabia, a 3rd year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science student, made his final walk on the stage as the What A Mess Acquaintance 2011 title holder.

The moment of truth came. Jefferson S. Ferrer representing the Philippines was adjudged 2nd Runner-up and Jenhrod O. Maceda of Hawaii as 1st Runner-up. Arnel E. Vigo as Miss Mexico was proclaimed What A Mess Acquaintance 2012. Arnel is the tenth holder of this title and the first-ever Bachelor of Arts student to win the title. He now joins the roster of What A Mess Acquaintance titleholders which include Anthony Jude Delos Santos (2003), Leonard Laraya (2004), Bien Paul Lava (2005), Nultran Esmeño (2006), Jason Orteda (2007), Arjie Francisco (2008), Divar Samino (2009), Jonaide Reyes (2010), and Jose Lusabia (2011).
