The Bachelor of Arts (AB) Department proved to be the home of talented and witty students as Krystian Janmarc Frias and Renanti Vista took the top places in the What A Mess Acquaintance 2016 pageant, July 15.
The search for What A Mess Acquaintance (WAMA) has been a tradition in the campus as part of the induction program and acquaintance party.
Every curricular department is required to have representatives for this pageant.
This year, the candidates were Benmark Lacson (a.k.a Paloma Palo-palo Muahh Muahh) and JR Jun Olino (a.k.a Aura Kambal ni Sakura kapatid ni Dora Araw Gabi Rumarampa) of the Food Technology Department; Norman Vista (a.k.a Sakura Gay Shoot Papa) and Gilbert Rivas (a.k.a Suzuki Mizuso Princess of the Moon) of the Office Administration Department; Joniel Lastimoso (a.k.a Ma. Leni Jejomar Duterte Roxas Para Presidente) and Junry Leonardo (a.k.a Ma. Lucrecia Dakuta Harrison Debbie Gibson Halls) of the Computer Science Department; and Krystian Janmarc Frias (a.k.a Tela nga indi yukot, tela nga manami, tela nga manaya-naya, Telanaia) and Renanti Vista (a.k.a Hatsuko, Hatsumo, Hatsu nating lahat, Hatsune) of the Bachelor of Arts Department.
The gym was filled with shout and cheers when the candidates appeared on stage in their production number.
Each candidate also showed off their flair in the talent presentation, and displayed their poise and grace wearing their improvised gown. Their wit and presence of mind were also measured in the interview portion.
Before the announcement of results, Peter Jhon O. Alido took “her” last walk as WAMA 2015.
All the minor awards were won by the delegates of the AB department.
Krystian Janmarc Frias was awarded Best in Production Number, Best in Talent and Best in Improvised Gown while Renanti Vista clinched the Ms. Photogenic and Best in Interview.
For the major awards, 3rd Runner-up was Benmark Lacson; 2nd Runner-up, Junry Leonardo; 1st Runner-up, Renanti Vista.
This year’s WAMA crown went to Krystian Janmarc Frias, a second year AB English student.
Frias, who was last year’s WAMA 1st Runner-up, gave the AB department an unprecedented five-in-a-row win.
Former AB department winners were Arnel Vigo (2012), Mark Christian Gayoma (2013), Niño Roseller Lim (2014), and Peter Jhon Alido (2015).
