CapSU MSC supports campaign to end VAWC

by Ma. Victoria Valad-on

CapSU Mambusao Satellite College (MSC) organized a half-day activity, December 12, in support of the “Walk for a Cause to End VAWC (Violence Against Women and Children).”
Rape, sexual harassment, maltreatment, abandonment and child labor are some of the different abuses being committed against women and children. The violence against women and children seems to be one of the prevalent social problems faced by our country.
One out of five Filipino women experienced physical violence and thousand cases of child abuse were reported.
Led by Prof. Frocy M. Navarrosa, Gender and Development focal person of the campus, the faculty, staff and students gathered wearing orange t-shirt, representing the idea of attracting the public’s curiosity in taking action on VAWC.
From the campus, they walked around the town plaza and then returned to the campus for a zumba dance. A film showing was also provided to highlight the occasion.
The event was for the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and Children which is annually observed from November 25-December 12.
The participation of CapSU MSC shows a strong support to the Anti-VAWC advocacy.
