The group got four awards including promising in editorial writing (Filipino category), promising in column writing (Filipino category), promising in sports writing (Filipino category), and most promising in photojournalism (individual).
The PIA Campus Journalism seminar-workshop is an annual activity participated by student paper writers and publication advisers coming from different schools in Western Visayas. The three-day seminar-workshop was the first batch for writers in college/university level with this year’s theme #PartnerForChange attuned to the campaign of the Duterte administration.
During the seminar-workshop, student writers were trained on journalistic writing like news writing, feature writing, opinion writing, photojournalism, and online journalism.
The annual activity of the PIA is done so that student writers would be able to further enhance their skills in writing for their school publication and for their future career as journalists.
"It’s an edifying activity that we got to learn a lot of tips in writing that would help us at The Courier create this semester’s issue that you are probably by now holding,” editor-in-chief Norba said.
