Ma. Victoria V. Valad-on was elected President of the Federation of Supreme Student Councils (FSSC) of Capiz State University during the election held at the Accreditation Room of CapSU Roxas City Main Campus, August 10.
The SSC presidents of the nine (9) campuses convened to elect the officers of the FSSC for the Academic Year 2018-2019.
Present were Rhey Mar Paderes (Roxas City Main Campus), Janna Prince Dayao (Pontevedra Campus), Christian Capay (Burias Campus), Haylen Vergabera (Dayao Satellite College), Lenery Ponsaran (Pilar Satellite College), Victoria Valad-on (Mambusao Satellite College), Arvin Deloterio (Dumarao Satellite College), Rocyl Laos (Sigma Satellite College), and Jazreen Caliliw (Tapaz Satellite College).
Valad-on was among the candidates who ran for president along with Christian Capay of Burias Campus, Rhey Mar Paderes of Roxas City Main Campus, and Arvin Deloterio of Dumarao Satellite College.
Out of the nine SSC Presidents in attendance, four voted in favor of Valad-on and also four for Paderes. Capay got one vote.
To break the tie, a flip of coin was resorted to and luck was on the side of Valad-on. She was the new FSSC President making her a member of the Board of the Regents of the University.
The other SSC Presidents have also a position in the FSSC. Paderes took the seat of vice-president; Ponsaran, secretary; Vergabera, asst. secretary; Dayao, treasurer; Laos, auditor; Capay and Deloterio, business managers; and Caliliw, PIO.
According to Valad-on, she was not expecting that she would be elected FSSC president.
“Each of the candidates delivered their speeches. Hearing them, I can say that all the candidates are capable to lead the organization and are all eager to serve their fellow students and the University. I thought they were more convincing,” Valad-on shared.
She was surprised when she tied with Paderes, much more when she was declared the president of the FSSC after the coin toss.
As the FSSC President for Academic Year 2018-2019, Valad-on would want to pursue the ratification of the of the Constitution and By-laws of the FSSC, registration of the FSSC at the Securities and Exchange Commission; and conduct of relevant activities.
Valad-on is the second SSC President from CapSU Mambusao to have been elected FSSC President following the footsteps of Richard Pagalilawan who served for two terms as member of the Board of Regents.
