AB dep’t conducts trainings for brgy. officials

As part of the extension program of Capiz State University-Mambusao Satellite College, the Bachelor of Arts conducted a series of trainings for barangay officials, July 1-4.
More or less 100 elected and appointed officials from the 26 barangays in Mambusao, Capiz participated in the trainings on Public Speaking, Technical Writing, Personality Development, and Internet Surfing.
Taking into consideration the capacity of the Accreditation Room which was the venue of the trainings, the participants were divided into two batches– morning and afternoon.
Selected faculty members served as lecturers during the four-day trainings.
Before the trainings started, Dr. Adelfo Z. Virtudazo, satellite college director, emphasized the  importance conducting extension activities to the community during the opening program.
“As part of this community, our obligation is not only to our students, but we also want to extend our services to the people in the community,” Dr. Virtudazo said.
“This is also a way of building good relationships with the people,” he added.
On the opening day, Prof. Virginia J. Magbanua, quality assurance officer, shared her knowledge on Public Speaking.
Prof. Magbanua taught the participants how to become good speakers and how to develop self-confidence.
Prof. Freden S. Delgado, student publication adviser, took charge of Technical Writing.
Prof. Delgado taught the participants how to write business letters, memorandum, and resolution.
On the third day, Prof. Felyn Mae G. Yap, guidance counselor, gave a lecture on Personality Development
On the last day of the trainings, the participants gathered at the Computer Laboratory where lecture on Internet Surfing was tackled by Mr. Leo B. Pula, computer courses instructor.
From his presentation, participants learned how to browse and explore the Internet.
Right after the lecture of Mr. Pula, closing ceremony followed.
Selected participants were asked to give their impressions and insights on the four-day trainings.
The fulfillment was seen in the faces of the participants when they received their certificate of completion.
Each participant received four certificates corresponding to the four trainings they attended.
Another closing ceremony was conducted in the afternoon for the other batch.
The participants also received their certificate of completion.
Dr. Virtudazo also encouraged the participants to request the Campus for trainings that they would need in their respective barangays.
He assured them that the Campus would be more than willing to provide them the services they would need in the future.
Hon. Leodegario A. Labao, Jr., municipal mayor of Mambusao, also extended his support to this endeavor.
As counterpart of the Local Government Unit, the snacks of the participants for four days were sponsored by his Office.
