Dr. Adelfo Z. Virtudazo, satellite college director, delivers his opening and welcome remarks.

Capiz State University-Mambusao Satellite College served as the venue of the 32nd Annual University RDE Symposium for Faculty, July 26.
A total of 51 research and extension studies were presented by the faculty from the different campuses and satellite colleges of the University.
The studies were categorized into natural/biological, social science, food technology, engineering, and extension.
Eleven researchers also participated in the poster category.
On his opening remarks, Dr. Adelfo Z. Virtudazo, satellite college director, recalled how the hosting by the college was decided.
During the University research symposium for students last March, Dr. Leo Andrew B. Biclar, director for research, came up with an idea of changing the venue of the symposium which was usually in CapSU Dayao Satellite College.
Having noticed Dr. Virtudazo in the audience, Dr. Biclar opened up the possibility of bringing the symposium to his college which the former accepted.
Dr. Virtudazo mentioned in his opening remarks that there were three reasons why he accepted the hosting of the symposium.
“There are three reasons why I accepted the hosting of this symposium. First, this is one way of showing our support to the University in its different activities. Second, I want our faculty to witness the symposium so that they would be inspired to present as well in the future. And third, I want the faculty from other campuses to visit CapSU Mambusao,” Dr. Virtudazo stated.
Dr. Lucy A. Beluso, vice president for research, development and extension, on the other hand, enlightened the participants of the purpose of research.
“Research findings need to be shared. They must be shared with the community for the development of the clientele. When you do research, do not limit it to your personal interest but think of the interest of the University. It is our responsibility to contribute something for our University,” Dr. Beluso said.
She encouraged the participants to come up with research and extension proposals because it is not only instruction which is expected of them but also research.
She added that the target of RDE office for this year was 45 researches but it had already met this number with the 47 studies submitted for presentation in the symposium.
However, despite the big number of researches, the University is weak in publication.
Because of this, she asked the faculty researchers to look for reputable journals where they could publish their research outputs.
After the opening program, the paper presenters proceeded to their respective venues for presentation.
Top three presenters in each category received awards in the form of certificate and cash prize.
