BSCS students celebrate 7th Com Sci Day

Tradition continues as the BS Computer Science students celebrates their 7th Computer Science Day, Feb. 12, with the theme “Future Proofing for Student Sustainability and Awareness.”
The whole day affair was filled with different activities like talent showdown, skills contest, seminar and the Search for Mr. and Miss Computer Science 2020.
During the opening program, Computer Science Department chairman Prof. Jelly L. Paredes and satellite college director Dr. Adelfo Z. Virtudazo shared some insights on the relevance of the occasion.
BSCS students were divided into four teams and each team identified their representatives to the different contests.
The morning session was highlighted by Street Dancing and TalaCat (Tala and Catriona) Dance Challenge participated by the four teams.
Students also learned from the topic discussed by Mr. Mark Jun A. Gersaniva during the seminar.
In the afternoon, selected B.S. Computer Science students joined in the quiz bowl where Justine Luces won, followed by John Alfred Mesias and Mark Lariosa in second and third place, respectively.
Meanwhile, Allen Jay Francisco took first place in Keyboard Master while Marwell Lerio got second place and Jino Myles Linan was in third place.

Like the previous celebrations, the Search for Mr. and Miss Computer Science was never missed out. Sixteen candidates joined the pageant representing their respective teams.
Richard Caldea, Mark Laurence Gallardo, Arman Dayang, Rio Jean John Vaal, John Sedric Bajada, John Vincent Fritz Lizada, Gerwen Villasenor, and Henrieco Osias were the male candidates and their counterpart were Bernadette Gallardo, Ira Coldovero, Claire Flores, Daisy Briones, Glenda Borja, Arlene Llasus, Shaira Magnabijon, and Dylin Candido.
The candidates were judged in their production number, school uniform, street wear, IT costume and interview.
This year’s Mr. and Miss Computer Science was determined by a panel of judges composed of Prof. Shiela L. Martinez, Prof. Janice D. Ballera, Prof. Lida L. Corcino, Prof. Freden S. Delgado and Mr. Francis Carl A. Figarola.
For the minor awards, John Sedric Bajada and Bernadette Gallardo were adjudged Mr. and Miss Photogenic while Best in Production Number went to John Sedric Bajada and Ira Coldovero.
John Sedric Bajada and Bernadette Gallardo snatched the Best in School Uniform and Best in Street Wear awards. Richard Caldea and Claire Flores garnered the awards for the Best in IT Costume and Best in Interview.
Proclaimed as winners were John Vincent Fritz Lizada and Ira Coldovero as 2nd Runners-up; Richard Caldea and Claire Flores, 1st Runners-up; and John Sedric Bajada and Bernadette Gallardo bagging the Mr. and Miss Computer Science 2020 titles.
