Color Fun Run kicks off Students’ Day 2020

For the first time, Color Fun Run participated in by students of CapSU Mambusao started off this year’s celebration of Students’ Day, Feb. 14.
Officers of the two big organizations in the campus- Supreme Student Council (SSC) and Future Leaders of the Philippines (FLP) spearheaded the celebration with the theme “Hearts & Minds.”
Students who joined the fun run assembled at the boundary of Poblacion Proper and Manibad where registration fee of Php15.00 was charged of each participant.
Days before the fun run, student officers communicated with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to request for water supply. The services of the Barangay Tanod were also requested to ensure the safety of the participants. The assistance of the Mambusao Disaster Risk Reduction Management (MDDRM) office was also sought for the medical support.
While the participants were running, colored water was splashed on them. Upon reaching the campus, the officers of the Bureau of Fire Protection sprinkled water to them to wash off the stain from their body and clothes.
Gerwin Villas Jr., BS Computer Science 3 student, took the third spot while Jaworski Maata Jr., BA English Language 2, settled for second place. BS Food Technology 1 student Fernard Ochon finished the race in first place. All winners received cash prizes.
After the fun run, the faculty and staff along with some students engaged in a zumba dance as a support to the One Billion Rising activity of the Gender and Development (GAD) office.
Since the Students’ Day celebration coincided with the Valentine’s Day, different organizations put up their photo booths in the gymnasium.
SSC President Clifford John Sunio came up with an idea of ‘arresting’ couples, ex-lovers or anyone they thought of pairing up using a handcuff. They were locked up in the SSC jail booth, and had their pictures taken.
Meanwhile, the FLP organization led by Leandro De Juan, president, set up a marriage booth and read letters for special persons from unknown senders.
The Society of Arts of the Bachelor of Arts Department made their booth available for everyone whether in love, bitter or broken-hearted.
To add more entertainment to the celebration, students from the four departments showcased their different talents.
SSC and FLP officers also prepared some parlor games for students to enjoy, where candies and some treats were given away as prizes.
Giving of recognition and special awards to students who were standout highlighted the Students’ Day 2020. Whether serious or funny, the recipients received their awards with a display of joy in their face.
Prof. Olga L. Llanera, SSC adviser, formally brought the activity to a close with her closing remarks. She commended the students for their successful Students’ Day celebration and expressed her appreciation for the cooperation and support extended by the entire studentry particularly by the officers of the different organizations.
