Capiz State University President Dr. Editha C. Alfon confirmed the graduation of the 1,296 graduates from the nine campuses and satellite colleges during the first-ever virtual graduation of the University, July 29.
Having no chance of holding a physical graduation ceremony amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the administration decided to hold a virtual graduation. This is a way to set free the graduating students bringing with them their respective degrees.
Last year's graduation made history when the 3,546 graduates of the University gathered at Villareal Stadium, Roxas City for the first-ever unified graduation.
Another first happened today with the first-ever virtual graduation happening at CAPSU Main Campus broadcasted via Facebook Live by the Supreme Student Council-CAPSU Main.
Some key officials of the University and representatives from the campuses and satellite colleges were physically present in the venue.
Dr. Susan O. Dangan, VP for Academic Affairs, recommended the confirmation of graduation of the candidates to the University President.
Presentation of graduates' names on LED monitor replaced the ceremonial distribution of diplomas.
The 60 graduates of CAPSU Mambusao composed of one AB English, 15 BS Food Technology and Entrepreneurship, and 44 BS Computer Science rejoiced after hearing their names being read.
Seeing their names on the screen would guarantee the graduates that they are a few steps away from realizing their dreams after finishing their college education.
Knowing that the graduates were joining their graduation online, Hon. Francis Fernando Billones, CAPSU Alumni Association President, sworn the graduates into the Association.
As practiced, the graduation exercises closed with the singing of the CAPSU March.
