SSC and FLP Conduct Online Elections

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, students were still able to exercise their right to vote for the students to lead the two biggest organizations in the campus- the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and the Future Leaders of the Philippines (FLP), during the online elections held on Nov. 4-6.
Students who were interested to run for an office were given two days to file their certificates of candidacy (COCs), Oct. 29-30. Online campaign period was Nov. 4-6.
Only 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students were allowed to run for an office but freshmen were given the chance to vote.
Using the Google form developed by Prof. Olga L. Llanera, SSC adviser, students were able to vote for their chosen candidates. The links of the online ballots were sent to the class advisers who were in charge to share the links to their respective advisory classes. The elections were set to last for three days to make sure that 60% of the student population were able to cast their votes.
Through the Facebook account of the student publication, the results were revealed to the public.
The new set of officers of the Supreme Student Council was composed of Steffany Rufino as vice president. The senators are Jean Oso, Ellyza Jay Javedra, Quen Cedric Valencia, Jovie De Asis, Azar Chaudry Patriarca, Tristen Ara Ysabelle TorremaƱa,, Joey Porral, Arnel Barquilla, Joy Derla, Daisy Briones, Anabele Lavado and Nicole Clyde Lumbania. Through a resolution crafted by the SSC Federation, the presidents are retained in their office. In effect, Clifford John Sunio has to sit for another year.
The Future Leaders of the Philippines organization will be led by its new president, Zyrra Lou Laysa. The other officers are Ma. Jean Duganggay, vice-president; Mailyn Launio, secretary; Maria Rizel Frenal, treasurer; RJ Lou Felasol, auditor; Jebart Martinez, P.R.O.; Angelika Faith Sison, business manager; Nikki Llegue, muse; and Harold Laurilla, sentinel.
Elected officers along with the officers of other organizations will take their oath of office on a virtual induction program on Nov. 9.
