Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Supreme Student Council (SSC) conducted its leadership seminar this year virtually with the theme "Leadership Enhancement: A Better Future for the Minds of the Youth," Feb. 23. This annual activity aims to instill among student leaders the true essence of leadership.
Prof. Olga L. Llanera, SSC adviser and Clifford John Sunio, SSC president together with the SSC officers managed to make the leadership seminar possible despite the pandemic. FLP President Zyrra Lou Laysa hosted the said virtual seminar.
The SSC officers, FLP officers, department officers, homeroom officers and officers of other school organizations participated in the said activity.
SSC President Clifford John Sunio was tasked to introduce the resource speakers. Merry Flor Martinez and Krishia Ann Labon, both licensed professional teachers, who were once student leaders during their college days in CAPSU Burias Campus shared some insights about leadership skills.
According to Martinez, "An effective student leader must know how to extend leadership to the community and must have knowledge in applying parliamentary procedure in the conduct of meetings."
Martinez discussed the “3P's of Leadership” and the “Attributes of a Leader.” "Leadership is not a position or a title, it is an action and example," Martinez added.
Labon, on the other hand, shared her insights on how to make things work and how a leader or an individual can make a better tomorrow. Martinez and Labon discussed together the importance of parliamentary procedure.
In closing, Prof. Olga L. Llanera, SSC adviser, expressed her appreciation to the invited resource speakers for sharing their expertise and services that made the leadership seminar possible.
