Despite the pandemic, housing services office chaired by Prof. Janice D. Ballera visited boarding houses on Aug. 10.
Prof. Ballera deemed it necessary to check the boarding houses to ensure the safety of the students who wish to stay in boarding houses amid modular distance learning.
She met with the boarding house owners and checked if they have the necessary permit to operate and if their boarding houses are safe for the students to stay.
After checking the documents, Prof. Ballera found only three boarding houses having permit to operate namely: Jireh Apartelle owned by Kristine Billones located at San Miguel Street, Poblacion Proper, Mambusao, Capiz; and boarding house owned by Pilar Dela Cruz at Navarra Avenue, Poblacion Proper.
When asked why they did not secure a permit, other boarding house owners said that it is expensive to secure the requirements. However, they assured the chairman of the safety of the students.
Based on the ocular inspection, the boarding houses were found to be in good condition and have provisions for water and electricity.
Despite passing the ocular inspection, Prof. Ballera insisted that permit must be secured to make the operation of boarding houses legal.
This information was relayed by the housing services office during the orientation program for the students to be aware and to be careful in choosing their boarding houses.
With a small land area, CAPSU Mambusao cannot construct dormitories for students. Instead, it recommends to students boarding houses accredited by the school.
