The pandemic prevented the holding of the intramural meet last year but this year it was pushed through virtually spearheaded by the sports services and socio-cultural affairs offices, Nov. 15.
CAPSU Mambusao students eagerly took part in the virtual intramural meet by joining in the different events in the field of traditional sports (laro ng lahi), music, dance, literary and academics.
Believing that intramural meet can still be possible amid the pandemic, Office of the Student Affairs and Socio-Cultural Affairs Chair Dr. Caster A. Kapunan along with Sports Services Chair Prof. Janice D. Ballera made a plan for this activity and presented it to the Dr. Adelfo Z. Virtudazo, satellite college director, for his approval.
Kapunan relayed his plans to Prof. Olga L. Llanera, SSC adviser, who in turn advised the department governors to identify their participants to the selected events.
"We had to rapidly pivot and figure out how we were going to communicate with our students and provide them this opportunity to engage with each other and do something outside of education. We recognize that we have distinct students with distinct abilities so we need to be creative with what we give and encourage them to participate, " Kapunan explained.
Because of the restrictions brought by the pandemic, only five sports events were included in the meet. These events however were not officially competed in the conventional intramural meet but were identified just for this moment. They were skipping, sipa, biscuit face, and jolens.
Meanwhile, cultural contests included events that are typically competed in the intramural meet prior to the pandemic.
