For the second time, the Computer Science Department conducted their virtual Computer Science Day on March 15, 2022 held via Zoom.
This year’s celebration centered on the theme “Enhancing IT Education through Collaboration towards a Better Future.”
CS Day is an activity that is organized by the department to give the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science students the opportunity to learn and have fun.
As usual, a webinar and the Search for Mr. and Miss Computer Science highlighted the occasion.
Two resource speakers were invited to impart to the students valuable information on the topics data privacy and technopreneurship.
Dr. Simeon J. Cainday III, a faculty of Guimaras State College, discussed data privacy.
To stir the curiosity and get the interest of the participants, Cainday started by posing a question. “What is more important: data privacy or money?” he asked.
In his topic, he discussed the Data Privacy Act of 2012 or The Republic Act No. 10173 admonishing the students to “Know your rights, know your responsibilities and know your legal liabilities.”
Technopreneurship was tackled by Dr. Ma. Beth S. Concepcion, dean of the College of Information Technology of West Visayan State University, who shed light on the trends and opportunities on technopreneurship. She specifically focused her talk on Tech Start Ups: Venture Creation and Business Model Generation.
