The Federation of Supreme Student Council officers and advisers from three campuses and six satellite colleges convened at Capiz State University-Mambusao Satellite College for the second regular meeting on October 21, 2022.
Student Regent Ervi Kile B. Bulquerin, FSSC president, presided over the meeting. He welcomed the participants and told them the purpose of the meeting.
The agenda taken up during the meeting included study title and schedule of defense, leadership training and status of FSSC t-shirt for A.Y. 2021-2022.
"I hope that we will be able to unite our minds and merge our purpose as we do our conversation. May we have a fruitful discussion and a progressive result in this second regular meeting," Bulquerin said.
The officers formulated three research titles namely:
1. Assessment of Capiz State University as Gender-friendly Institution: A Basis for Policy Making and Declaration
2. The Effectiveness of Capiz State University FSSC's Activity Book to the Reading Comprehension of DDLs of Estefania Montemayor National High School
3. Benefits of Organizational Involvement of Student Leaders to their Personal Development
Since the issue about the haircut of LGBTQ+ has become controversial, the study about the assessment of CAPSU as a gender-friendly institution was approved by the advisers.
Prof. Jay Lord B. Asis, CAPSU Roxas City SSC adviser, said that the title of the study was timely and relevant as CAPSU has been receiving complaints about the prescribed haircut for LGBTQ+ students.
"The assessment of Capiz State University as a gender-friendly institution is a very nice topic since it can help to determine if CAPSU is really a safe space for the LGBTQ+ and the result could help us to support the policy that we are going to formulate," Prof. Asis said.
To hone the skills and knowledge of the SSC presidents, the body decided to conduct a leadership training that focuses on Robert's Rule- parliamentary procedure, leadership, multimedia, and team building on the first week of December at Maribert Inland Resort.
The FSSC officers and advisers agreed to create a windbreaker jacket that will serve as uniform in the future activities of the organization. Each campus was tasked to make a layout of the design to be approved the following week.
In his closing remarks, FSSC Treasurer Mr. Joey O. Luces said that the meeting was fruitful as they were able to cement themselves with one goal and mission which is to provide quality and excellent service to the students.
"As officers of the Federation of Supreme Student Council, we have the purpose to offer the best service to the students. This meeting serves as our fuel to unite and signify our burning passion to lead and serve," Luces said.
At the end of the program, each FSSC officer received a certificate of attendance.
