The Local Government Unit of Jamindan tapped CAPSU Mambusao to train some of its employees on news writing, March 9, as LGU’s initiative to produce more contributors to the town’s Jamindan Today.
Around 20 employees coming from the different departments joined the training conducted by the Bachelor of Arts in English Language.
Knowing what training his employees need, Jamindan Mayor Mac Artur Valdemar requested CAPSU Mambusao to upskill them on writing news.
During the opening program, Vice Mayor Lemuel Vestidas said that the training would help their employees to communicate effectively, both in speaking and writing.
According to VM Vestidas, two months ago they passed an ordinance creating the Jamindan Today Facebook page.
The page serves as an online publication of the municipality where news on activities and events in Jamindan are posted.
Prof. Felyn Mae G. Yap, BAEL faculty, taught the participants essentials of news writing.
Workshop followed after the lecture where participants drafted news articles on assigned topics.
The training was part of the extension services of BAEL.
Last October 2022, CAPSU Mambusao and LGU Jamindan inked partnership in a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
In the MOA, CAPSU Mambusao and LGU Jamindan agree to share expertise in different fields of endeavor in making the areas of coverage progressive and sustainable thereby improving the lives of the people.
CAPSU Mambusao pledge to extend different programs through Serve Households with Innovative Agri-technological and Entrepreneurial Systems (SHInES).
Mayor Mac Artur Valdemar who was not around during the opening program but was present during the closing ceremony said that with the training attended by his staff, more information will be delivered to the public through Jamindan Today.
The FB page they created serves as venue for them to disseminate information on programs and projects for the people of Jamindan and the activities of the town.
It also serves as a feedback mechanism with the comments they receive which may improve their delivery of services.
Mayor Valdemar added that he was looking forward to more trainings for his staff which CAPSU Mambusao assured to provide.
Participants received certificates in recognition of their participation and completion of the training.
