Luces presents his accomplishments as SSC president.

CAPSU Mambusao faculty, staff and students gathered at the campus gymnasium to attend the student assembly conducted by the Supreme Student Council (SSC), May 5.
Holding a student assembly is a yearly activity that provides an opportunity for the SSC officers to report to their fellow students their accomplishments during their term as well as their plans and proposals for the next administration.
Student assembly also serves as an avenue for students to air their concerns and raise issues that need to be addressed by the SSC and the school administration.
As their term is about to end, SSC officers deemed it necessary to hold the student assembly.
In her opening remarks, SSC Vice President Joan P. Arboleda expressed her gratitude for the chance given to her to serve her fellow students and for the SSC to be the voice of the students.
“I am blessed and thankful to be here serving my fellow students. Supreme Student Council as organization is committed to fulfill our responsibilities to be the voice of our fellow students,” Arboleda said.
Arboleda told her fellow students that in the assembly issues and problems would be addressed so they encouraged them to raise their concerns.
“We are gather[ed] here today to be enlightened with the issues and problems that only our beloved teachers and the administration can answer. So, if you have questions and complain[t]s regarding our stay in this institution feel free to ask later,” Arboleda said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Marife R. Hilapad, who acted as officer-in-charge of the Campus while Satellite College Director Adelfo Z. Virtudazo was on a leave of absence, noted the need for student officers to hold an assembly.
“One mandate of your elected officials- your representation- is to create an environment where students can voice out their concerns or needs,” Dr. Hilapad said in her message.
She added that through the student assembly, the organization could have the chance to share some relevant information that students need to know and for them to raise questions concerning their welfare in the campus.
“The student assembly is a healthy platform where information about your organization that includes the financial reports, accomplishments and future projects will be discussed. This is also the appropriate venue for you to ask relevant questions and queries regarding your rights, privileges as well as responsibilities as students of CAPSU Mambusao Satellite College,” Dr. Hilapad said stressing the importance of student assembly.
Dr. Hilapad believes in a healthy and harmonious relationship between the administration and the students.
She appealed to everybody that no matter what would be brought up in the discussion, they would remain calm, sharing what we always hear from elders that “Lahat ay nadadala sa mabuting usapan.”
Finally, Dr. Hilapad expressed her hope to” come up with just and right decisions and actions that will address our concerns and needs.”
The meeting proper started with SSC President Joey O. Luces giving his privilege speech.
According to Luces, student assembly is an opportunity for the student council to present the activities they conducted, their proposed projects and to voice out the concerns, complaints and suggestions of students.
He also believed that they were able to perform their duties and responsibilities to their fellow students and to the school.
“As the highest student organization of this institution, we opt to connect with the students and unify our heart and mind for a better CAPSU. Through the different activities that we conducted, we believe that we are able to fulfill our duties and responsibilities as student leaders,” Luces said.
As the end of the school year approaches, Luces also knows his term of office is about to end.
He took the opportunity to express his gratitude to his fellow students and teachers for their love and support to his administration.
Divine Grace T. Deodoco, assistant executive secretary, presented the agenda to be taken up while Teodelyn D. Gomez, executive secretary, read the minutes of the last student assembly meeting which was conducted last year.
In behalf of Reza Esteban, executive finance secretary, Luces presented the financial report where details on the collection and expenses of the organization were divulge to the public.
Luces then shared the accomplishments of the organization particularly the activities they have conducted since the opening of the school year.
He also presented his proposed projects which include water vending machine, replacement of door knobs in comfort rooms, ceiling fan in the SSC office, circuit breaker and student tambayan.
He assured his fellow students that these projects would be carried out before his term ends except for the student tambayan which requires big amount of money.
He just entrusts this project to the next administration to pursue.
During the open forum, some concerns of the students were brought out and immediately dealt with. However, there were issues that only the satellite director could address.
Mae Anne A. Alipusan, SSC senator, brought the affair to a conclusion with her closing remarks.
Alipusan also expressed her gratitude and congratulated her fellow officers and the SSC Adviser Prof. Olga L. Llanera for having succeeded in all their endeavors while serving the organization.
She was proud that they were able to accomplish quality outputs and brought progress to the organization which are testament of their dedication, commitment, and quality service.
