For the first time, graduates of Capiz State University - Mambusao Satellite College gathered in one glorious event. The dream of having a grand alumni homecoming was realized on July 29. The occasion was filled with excitement and nostalgia as the institution proudly welcomed back its former students.
The Emerald Celebration's theme is “Pagkilitaay, Pagkamustahanay, kag Pagkinalipay.”
Alumni from batches spanning two decades, from 2003 to 2023, joyfully reunited to relive their cherished memories and celebrate their enduring bond with their beloved Alma Mater.
The day's festivities commenced with the celebration of a Thanksgiving Mass, where they expressed their gratitude for the transformative experiences they have encountered since their days at CAPSU Mambusao.
The grand parade soon followed. The spirit of camaraderie and school pride were palpable as the procession weaved its way through the campus, evoking fond memories of their time together.
During the program, Dr. Adelfo Z. Virtudazo, the dedicated satellite college director, graciously acknowledged the presence of esteemed guests, faculty, staff, retirees, and, above all, the cherished alumni.
Dr. Virtudazo eloquently highlighted the significance of the alumni homecoming, providing a platform for the graduates to witness the positive changes and remarkable developments in their beloved Alma Mater.
Drawing attention to the diverse paths taken by the alumni since graduation, Dr. Virtudazo emphasized that CAPSU Mambusao had been an integral part of their journey, shaping their successes and guiding their endeavors.
With a profound insight, he left the attendees pondering, "Upon seeing many achievers and professionals, it is an indication that CAPSU is successful in attaining its vision, mission, and goals," reinforcing the institution's commitment to excellence.
Dr. Susan O. Dangan, the vice president for academic affairs, added a touch of lightheartedness to the event while infusing it with meaning.
In her engaging message, she skillfully rekindled long-lost friendships, relationships, and bonds among the alumni.
"Kalimti ang posisyon; pungkuan ta danay. Let's try to reminisce the days when you were here in this satellite college," she said. Her powerful words encouraged the attendees to reflect on their past and renew the friendships forged two decades ago, leaving behind any unnecessary burdens.
As the celebration continued, Hon. James "Mitang" Magbanua, the Capiz provincial vice governor, took the stage and extolled the invaluable contributions of CAPSU to the lives and achievements of its students throughout the years.
He urged the alumni to harness their brilliant minds and great ideas, translating them into meaningful actions that contribute to society.
"May you continue to inspire and make them proud always and all the time. Ipakita ang kaalam, abilidad, kag talent sa trabaho kag sa ano man nga posisyon. Truly, ang CAPSU is world-class!" the vice governor boldly said.
Hon. Inday Baby Jane Tan-Castro, the esteemed congresswoman of the 2nd District of the Province of Capiz, served as the event's distinguished guest speaker.
"There have been a lot of good products. Isa lang ang inyo ginhalinan- CAPSU Mambusao."
She eloquently emphasized the significance of acknowledging one's roots and the importance of gratitude towards educators who have profoundly shaped their lives.
As she departed the podium gracefully, she left the alumni with thought-provoking quotes to carry in their hearts:
"Love your neighbors as you love yourself" and "Success should not be measured by material wealth. The true measure of success is how much you have loved."
After hearing emotional and inspiring messages, the event continued with Prof. Judith L. Vista presenting the new set of officers of CAPSU Mambusao alumni association.
Mr. Rendon V. Marquez, a distinguished alumnus who has undoubtedly shown dedication and commitment to the institution, had been elected as the president of the association.
Following the presentation of the alumni association officers, the momentous occasion continued with the presentation of the association’s Constitution and By-laws, an essential framework that would guide the operations and governance of the alumni association.
Leading this crucial presentation was the esteemed Atty. Ramon B. Launio Jr., a respected legal expert with a deep connection to CAPSU Mambusao where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science as a pre-law degree.
In the culminating moment of the program, Marquez presented their proposed project. With a clear sense of purpose and enthusiasm, he unveiled a visionary plan that aimed to make a positive and lasting impact on the CAPSU Mambusao community.
In his heartfelt closing remarks, Marquez expressed his profound appreciation to all the attendees for their overwhelming support and active participation in the event.
He acknowledged that the success of the homecoming would not have been possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of everyone present, each contributing to the warm and joyous atmosphere that permeated throughout the day.
In the afternoon, the gym echoed with laughter and genuine joy as attendees from various batches enthusiastically participated in parlor games. This vibrant display of unity and competitiveness underscored the notion that age is merely a number.
The most anticipated part of the afternoon's event was the on-the-spot search for Mr. and Ms. Grand Alumni Homecoming.
Candidates from different departments showcased their beauty and intelligence in a captivating competition. The question-and-answer segment with a humorous twist tested the candidates' wit and intelligence as they delivered serious answers to funny questions.
The coveted titles of Mr. and Ms. Grand Alumni Homecoming were ultimately claimed by Mr. Ronelo Leonor and Ms. Rodelen Vigo-Maceda.
The festivities reached their climax with an alumni fellowship night, featuring an engaging live band that set the mood for a night of camaraderie and nostalgia. All attendees swayed to the rhythm of the music, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere.
The alumni homecoming carries immense significance as it provides former students with a chance to return to their Alma Mater and reconnect with old friends, faculty, and staff.
This heartwarming event fosters a strong sense of nostalgia and serves to strengthen the enduring bonds between graduates and their cherished educational institution.
