"The young do not know enough to be prudent, and therefore they attempt the impossible, and achieve it, generation after generation." - Pearl S. Buck
Youth are not burdened by the constraints of what is considered "prudent" or realistic, they are more willing to pursue ambitious goals and attempt things that might seem impossible to others. Despite the adversities, youth strive to prove that anything is possible if you have the will and perseverance to achieve it.
Every year, on August 12, International Youth Day is celebrated with the objective of promoting awareness about various challenges that impact the youth worldwide. This a celebration of how youth can shape the future through the power of education.
This year's theme, "Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World" suggests a focus on educating and equipping young individuals with skills that are environmentally friendly and aligned with the principles of sustainability.
It indicates that the goal of imparting green skills to youth is to collectively work toward creating a world that is environmentally balanced and socially equitable. This concept recognizes the pivotal role that the younger generation can play in shaping a future that is both prosperous and environmentally responsible.
This International Youth Day, let us empower youth to take action in their communities and advocate for sustainable practices. We can drive change by promoting recycling, reducing waste, planting trees, supporting renewable energy, and encouraging environmentally conscious policies.
Today's youth will face critical environmental challenges such as climate change, and pollution. By imparting green skills, we prepare them to address these challenges effectively and develop innovative solutions to mitigate their impact.
The concept of green skills for youth is a beacon of hope in a world grappling with environmental crises. As we strive for a sustainable future, it is imperative to equip young individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to become stewards of the planet.
Green skills education not only empowers them to address environmental challenges creatively but also instills a deep sense of responsibility and agency. By fostering a generation of environmentally conscious and innovative thinkers, we pave the way towards a more sustainable world.
