Student leaders trained on basic accounting, business plan making

The Office of the Economic Enterprise and Development, in collaboration with the Supreme Student Council and Future Leaders of the Philippines, conducted a leadership training-workshop on basic accounting and business plan making at the Accreditation room, February 22.
Presidents and treasurers of various school organizations attended the seminar, which aimed to equip students with essential knowledge in these areas.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Julie V. Dalida, planning officer, on behalf of Dr. Ramy Lloyd L. Lotilla, OIC-satellite college director.
Dr. Dalida emphasized the importance of continuous learning and good leadership in organizations. She said that, "Those who keep learning will keep rising in life.” She highlighted that an organization needs good leadership, and a good leader is responsive to change.
Meanwhile, Chloe Marie C. Lozada, president of FLP sub-chapter 2, recognized the thirty training participants from different school departments and organizations.
The training covered topics such as basic accounting, presented by Dr. Cynthren L. Bernabe, budget officer of CAPSU Mambusao; and business plan making, discussed by Ms. Juliene B. Berdugo, a senior business counselor from the Department of Trade and Industry.
Participants engaged in activities that enhanced their understanding of these subjects, especially the balance sheet, income statement, statement of owner's equity, and writing a business making canvas.

"Of all the seminars that I've attended, gin-enjoy ko 'ni nga leadership training kay may na-discover ako about myself and nahasa akon skills. The lessons that we learned are practical and useful to us students, especially for me who attended the training. Daku gid nga bulig ini sa akon nga graduating na to prepare for my future," Bugna said.
Cristine Joy Valguna, Society of Mental Health Advocates president, who used to work in a remittance center was refreshed of what she learned from her previous job.
"I learned so much from the seminar. Since I had worked in a remittance center, I have already experienced accounting, so the seminar refreshe[d] my mind and at the same time it g[a]ve me more ideas and learnings," Valguna shared.
The activity concluded with certificates and prizes awarded to the speakers and active participants.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Lalaine E. Ricardo, Student Affairs and Services Chairperson, highlighted the significance of the topics discussed in preparing students for the competitive landscape and encouraged them to apply their learnings to developing income-generating projects for their organizations.
