Capiz State University-Mambusao Satellite College honored students for their feats both in academics and co-curricular activities in a recognition ceremony with the theme “A Legacy of Quality Education” held at the campus gymnasium, June 5.
In his welcome message, Dr. Adelfo Z. Virtudazo, satellite college director, expressed his joy for the presence of the University key officials from the central office.
University President Dr. Editha C. Alfon along with the four vice presidents, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Susan O. Dangan, VP for Administration and Finance Dr. Wennie F. Legario, VP for Research, Development and Extension Dr. Efren L. Linan, VP for External Affairs and Linkages Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino, and Quality Assurance Director Dr. Rosel L. Dionio graced the affair.
Dr. Virtudazo remarked that recognition day is for performers both in the academic and non-academic fields for their hard work during the academic year.
“Every year after the second semester, the University recognizes the performance of the students. Why? This is a way of giving back to you the good things that you have done for your family and for your school, and in the community as a whole,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Alfon extended her congratulations to the students. She considered the day special as it was a day that CAPSUnians were recognized for their achievements.
Dr. Alfon gave a message to the awardees and to those who didn’t have one.
“Your achievement today signifies a new level completed. The talent and the gift that is in you is a blessing, so be grateful. Let your achievement lead you to greater heights, but always be humble and fit of the crown. For those who did not make it, don’t lose hope. Failures are sometimes a blessing in disguise for you to discover your God-given gift. You’ve tried your best anyway. There is always time for everything. Maybe yours is not this year. So, keep on trying,” she said.
The presence of the guest speaker Atty. Ramon B. Launio, Jr. added distinction to the occasion.
Atty. Launio is an AB Political Science alumnus of the school of the Class of 2015. He now works as Securities Counsel II at the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Atty. Launio shared some of his journey during his school days and how he got into law school.
In his inspirational message, Atty. Launio exhorted the awardees to acknowledge their achievements and the people behind their success, and to remain humble amid their achievements. “At the end of this program, I am hoping that all of you will recognize your success, your hardships, but always stay humble and kind. Please do recognize your school, teachers and parents. Without them, without their support maybe you are not here today,” he said.
The awarding of certificates highlighted the program. Honors awards, leadership awards, and service awards were bestowed on the students.
It was also during the occasion that the graduating students represented by Joan P. Arboleda, Senior Class Organization president, handed over their donation to the school.
Arboleda was hoping that their donation would benefit the students in any way it could.
“With this donation, we aim to enrich the educational experience of current and future students, whether be it through supporting extracurricular activities, or improving the resources available to students,” Arboleda said.
Dr. Lalaine E. Ricardo, Student Affairs and Services chairperson, formally closed the program with her closing remarks.
Dr. Ricardo dubbed the day as “a day of good harvest for CAPSU.” She also extended her congratulations to the awardees.
“Our dear awardees, congratulations for overcoming the hardship and the difficulties in your academic endeavor. It is not easy to be part of this honorees, but you did it well. My dear students, congratulations. You deserve it,” she concluded.
