NEWS: SSC, FLP officers, advisers attend leadership training

The officers and advisers of the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and Future Leaders of the Philippines (FLP) from the three campuses and six satellite colleges of Capiz State University gather at San Antonio Resort, Baybay, Roxas for the Federation of Supreme Student Council (FSSC) and Federation of Future Leaders of the Philippines (FFLP) Leadership Training 2024 with the theme "One CAPSU: Uniting Leaders, Igniting Purpose,” May 29-31.
Kin F. Sabala, outgoing SSC president; Charlene L. Arendaying, incoming SSC president; Sarah Marie E. Asis, incoming FLP president; and Joice M. Florentino, outgoing FLP vice president, along with SSC Adviser Prof. Olga L. Llanera and FLP Adviser Prof. Freden S. Delgado represented CAPSU Mambusao in the first-ever joint leadership training of the two mother organizations.
During the leadership training, officers took part in seminars on the topics "Knowing Your Purpose," presented by Ms. Kristine Sauler, "Managing Stress and Balancing Academics and Leadership" by Atty. Ann Margaret P. Dy, and "Resolution and Communication Letter Making," discussed Atty. Toche Vic B. Doce.
The seminars highlighted that the main core of leadership is to bring about change.
The topics also shared the concept of the story of Juan Tama as the foundation for finding our life purpose.
Moreover, aside from the abilities to inspire others, it was also mentioned that it's important to learn how to write effectively.
The three topics served as a catalyst for growth, empowerment, and the cultivation of strong leadership qualities among the student leaders.

FSSC and FFLP officers' characters and unity were tested in various team-building activities- part of their leadership training.
The marble challenge, yarn activity, balloon challenge, balancing, and shoot the ball activity were designed to teach student leaders the importance of listening, creativity, cooperation, strategic thinking, and teamwork.
The marble challenge focused on attentive listening and clear communication, while the yarn activity emphasized creativity and trust.
The balloon challenge highlighted the power of cooperation and mutual support, while the strategic element involved careful planning and execution.
Moreover, the balancing of a glass of water on a cloth tested their strategic planning. The shoot-the-balloon activity tested coordination and teamwork, demonstrating the importance of working together towards a common goal.
The activities helped students gain a deeper understanding of the key principles of successful teamwork and leadership, which they can apply in their future endeavors.
Officers and advisers also had an opportunity to enjoy during the socialization night which happened on day two.
Awards were given out to recognize those who stood out. These were the Best Dressed, Headturners, and Dancerists of the Night.
On the final day, the election of FSSC and FFLP officers, as well as the formulation of an action plan, took place.
The newly elected officers took their oath before Dr. Editha C. Alfon, university president.
The leadership training aimed to equip student leaders with knowledge on understanding their purpose, balancing academics and leadership, and fostering a sense of camaraderie to integrate with their constituents on their respective campuses.
