Capiz State University-Mambusao Satellite College through the Guidance and Counselling Services Office, in cooperation with the Supreme Student Council and Future Leaders of the Philippines, conducted an orientation program, Aug. 8.
The program commenced with a solemn opening prayer, followed by the singing of the national anthem and the Capiz hymn.
Dr. Ramy Lloyd L. Lotilla, OIC satellite college director, delivered the welcome remarks.
Dr. Lotilla emphasized the importance of the freshmen's participation in every session and welcoming them to a supportive and caring environment.
"Freshmen are stars of this event. You are now part of the supportive and caring environment. We encourage you to participate in every session. To our new students, we are about to embark on a new environment of growth," Dr. Lotilla emphasized.
Human Resource Management Officer Elizabeth M. Magallanes introduced the faculty and staff members for the students to be familiar of their faces and their designated positions in the campus.
Frontline service providers then presented the rules and regulations in their respective offices.
Taking charge of the window from registration to graduation, Prof. Meschel L. Marcos, designated registrar, talked about policies and regulations, and enrollment/registration requirements for graduating and non-graduating students.
In addition, Prof. Michelle Espartero, student organizations and activities coordinator, discussed student services on behalf of Student Affairs and Services Chairperson Dr. Lalaine E. Ricardo. She also tackled student discipline, and presented the prescribed uniform for male and female students.
Meanwhile, Prof. Herman Baranda, NSTP coordinator, introduced the National Service Training Program to the freshmen.
Dr. Janice D. Ballera provided information about socio-cultural and sports services. She invited the students to join the Kalingawan Performing Arts Group and the Braveheart Sports Clubs.
The program also gave way to a call for recruitment of new student journalists by Prof. Freden S. Delgado, student publication adviser.
Other offices that were not able to present due to time constraints included library and medical services.
In an interview, BAEL first year student Ollivede Grace Joven shared how following the rules is important as a freshman.
"Ang natutuhan ko sa orientation is dapat sundin ang bawat rule it campus. Makatutulong din sa 'min ang orientation para malaman ang lahat ng detalye sa campus na hindi pa namin alam lalo na at bago kami sa campus and still trying na maging close ko ang ibang mag-aaral sa campus," Joven said.
The program concluded with the closing remarks from Prof. Ma. Relie V. Aguilos, guidance and counselling services chairperson.
The orientation program aimed to provide new students with an overview of the college's services and facilities, as well as an introduction to the faculty and staff members who will be supporting them throughout their academic journey.
