Faculty, staff, and students organized a retirement send-off party for Dr. Adelfo Z. Virtudazo, Prof. Virginia P. Cabales, and Mr. Ronnie S. Andaya on August 2 at the campus gymnasium.
The event began with a prayer led by Ms. Arlene P. Tamayo, vice-president of CAPSU Mambusao Faculty and Employees Association (CAPSUMAMFEA).
Engr. Ramy Lloyd l. Lotilla, EdD, acting OIC-Satellite College Director, welcomed everyone and underscored the significance of the retirees' contributions to the institution.
"Retirement is not a goodbye after all. They have gone above and beyond, serving as role models and pillars of this institution. We will miss their enthusiasm and dedication. We will miss their bright and cheerful demeanor," Engr. Lotilla shared.
A series of tributes followed, starting with Prof. Virginia J. Magbanua’s tribute to Dr. Virtudazo, where she lauded his exceptional leadership and dedication.
"It's been seven years. Your dedication and commitment have profoundly impacted our campus community," she emotionally highlighted.
This was succeeded by an intermission number from the Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BAEL) and Bachelor of Office Administration (BSOA) faculty members, featuring binalaybay and singing, respectively.
Dr. Marife R. Hilapad, chair of the Food Technology Department, delivered a tribute to Prof. Cabales.
"You will be greatly missed, especially in IPCR preparations," Dr. Hilapad conveyed enthusiastically.
"She is the best storyteller of all time, especially when it comes to teleseryes. She is a very loving and dependable teacher," she added.
The tribute was followed by another performance from the BSFT faculty members.
Prof. Herman L. Baranda then honored Mr. Ronnie S. Andaya with a tribute.
"Ang impression ko kay Pareng Ronnie... abi nanda indi niya kaya maglimpyo it CR kay siyempre iya apelyido (from a well-off family). Gani bilib gid ako kanana," Prof. Baranda recollected.
"Ang usual nga comment kanana sang mga students is tama siya ka strikto. Pero mahambal ko gid nga isa siya ka dedicated employee," Prof. Baranda heartily expressed.
This was followed by an intermission number from the BSCS faculty members.
Kin F. Sabala, outgoing SSC president, spoke on behalf of the student body, expressing gratitude and appreciation for the retirees’ impact on their academic journey.
The retirees were also given the chance to share their thoughts and farewells.
Prof. Cabales shared her memories saying, “Palangga n'yo gid ako!”
"My journey has been incredible because of your support. When I was financially hard-up, there were people who did not abandon me," she added.
Dr. Virtudazo also imparted his final thoughts, "I feel blessed because I love my parents. This is the main ingredient of our success. Thank you to everyone; you are part of this institution's success. I am so grateful!"
The event concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Olga L. Llanera, MAMFEA auditor, who highlighted the retirees’ lasting legacy.
"This event is a testament to the love, respect, and admiration we all share for them. As you embark on this new chapter, know that you carry with you our best wishes. Thank you for sharing your stories," Prof. Llanera said.
The gathering ended on a warm note, with an opportunity for attendees to socialize and further honor the retirees' contributions.
