The Kalingawan Performing Arts Group (KalPAG) amused the CAPSU Mambusao community with a cultural show dubbed as "Pasikatay" on January 23.
The presentation was a showcase of raw talent, cultural pride, and community spirit took center stage. The moment the gymnasium doors opened, there was a palpable energy in the air, an excitement that promised a day of unforgettable performances and inspiring moments.
The program began with a solemn yet uplifting atmosphere. The Himig Kalingawan Chorale graced the audience with their heartfelt performances of the Opening Prayer, National Anthem, and Capiz Hymn. Their voices resonated with every corner of the gym, reminding everyone of the beauty of unity and faith.
Dr. Ramy Lloyd L. Lotilla, Satellite College Director, delivered his opening remarks, setting the tone for the show. With his warm words, he reminded everyone that Pasikatay wasn’t just about performing, it was about celebrating the unique gifts each person brings to the table.
The cultural show was nothing short of magical. It was a kaleidoscope of creativity, blending traditional and modern performances that left the audience in awe.
The Himig Kalingawan Chorale opened with their rendition of Rosas Pandan, a heartwarming piece that celebrates Filipino heritage. This was followed by the electrifying flash mob by the KalPAG, whose energy was so contagious that it had the crowd clapping along.
The day didn’t just stop at showcasing cultural traditions, it also embraced modernity and youthful energy. Hip-hop and P-Pop performances by the Kalingawan brought the house down, with the crowd erupting into cheers and applause. The KalPAG Dance Troupe also delivered stunning performances of Inalimango and Inilusan folk dances, effortlessly weaving cultural narratives into their movements. Adding a personal touch, participants closed the live performances with a soulful live band act that gave the event a contemporary flair.
Behind all these remarkable performances was the unwavering support and guidance of Dr. Janice D. Ballera, the adviser of KalPAG. Her dedication to nurturing young artists and pushing them to their full potential shone brightly in every act. It is clear that she isn’t just an adviser, she is a mentor, a motivator, and a believer in the transformative power of the arts.
Dr. Julie V. Dalida, designated planning officer and a tireless advocate for the arts, delivered inspiring words.
"Art is the soul of our community, it is where passion meets purpose. Let us continue to celebrate the talent within us and inspire greatness in one another."
Her message was a reminder that Pasikatay was more than just a day of performances, it was a celebration of the human spirit, a space where people could come together to share their stories, their culture, and their passion.
As the day drew to a close, Dr. Lalaine L. Ricardo took to the stage for the closing remarks, expressing her heartfelt gratitude to the performers, organizers, and audience.
But the event didn’t end there. In a final act of unity, performers, faculty, staff, students, and even audience members joined together for a Unity Dance. It was a beautiful, unchoreographed moment of connection, as people from all walks of life danced together, laughing, cheering, and celebrating the day’s success.
Pasikatay wasn’t just an even, it was an experience. It was a day when boundaries disappeared, where everyone came together to celebrate the beauty of art, culture, and community. It reminded everyone that while we may come from different backgrounds, it’s our shared love for creativity and self-expression that truly unites us.
As the last echoes of laughter and applause faded from the gymnasium, one thing was clear. Pasikatay wasn’t just a celebration of talent, it was a celebration of humanity. And with leaders like Dr. Janice D. Ballera, who is passionate with arts, the campus community can look forward to many more activities like this where art and passion bring people together in the most extraordinary way.
