Despite prevailing high heat index, the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) pushed through its 11th Office Administration Day, April 23, with the theme was "Hands in Action, Minds in Motion: Transforming Visions into Reality."
The event commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Frocy M. Navarrosa, BSOA program coordinator. Regarding the theme of the celebration, she encouraged the students to take matters into their own hands to achieve their dreams, and also shared tips on how to do it.
"You want to be successful someday? Broaden your knowledge by listening and applying what you have learned sa school natin," Navarrosa stated.
After Navarrosa's remarks, attention turned to Jennie Rose S. Solocasa, the guest speaker for the event.
She is an alumna of the Office Administration Department. She has been a court stenographer for 12 years and presently working at the Regional Trial Court in Roxas City.
One key moment during her college was when she was introduced to stenography, a subject that is part of the course. At first, she found it really difficult and even considered quitting.
"Hambal ko, 'ah, paano ina? Daw budlay budlay man," she said. But with her uncle's encouragement, she decided to push through it.
She also encouraged BSOA students to keep practicing their skills in stenography even after completing the subject, as it may help them land a job, just like she does as a court Sstenographer.
"So ang advice ko sa inyo, kung tapos na ang inyong Stenography I and Stenography II, indi nyo gid pagkalipatan ang inyo skill na yaon," she said.
After her message, BSOA students transformed into runway models with the OA on Ramp competition. Contestants strutted in their best outfits in the following categories: uniform, office attire, denim attire, and kaVouge (local festival) attire.
The audience was mesmerized as contestants walked down and posed in their stunning outfits. The costumes created out of recycled materials showcased the creative minds of the contestants.
The winners in the other contests held as part of the OA Day were announced after the competition.
In the stenography competition, Erika Eroy of BSOA 1 was awarded first place; followed by Jean Latoza, also from BSOA 1, in second place; and Mary Joy Labris of BSOA 2B in third place.
In keyboarding, first place went to Arnie Turan of BSOA 4C; with Ma. Aila Facsoy, also from BSOA 4C, secured second place; and Marian Shane Puncion of BSOA 1 took third place.

In the afternoon, a seminar on events management was conducted with their speaker John Gabriel V. Ledesma, CSO coordinator and faculty member at Filamer Christian University in Roxas City.
In his lecture, he emphasized the things needed for an event to be successful. One is being a team player and getting along with team members.
"Mag-event management kamo, you are not only working alone. So dapat pakikisama sa iyong mga team members," he said.
To cap off the event, Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Chairperson Dr. Lalaine E. Ricardo delivered the closing remarks. She congratulated everyone involved in making the celebration of the 11th OA Day possible.
