The Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BAEL) program has once again proven its stronghold in student leadership, clinching the presidency of the Supreme Student Council (SSC) for the fourth consecutive year.
Janela A. Ponce, an incoming third year BAEL student, secured the top position unopposed during the SSC and FLP elections held on April 30.
Running without a rival, Ponce garnered a solid 678 votes out of 1,099 enrolled students, surpassing the required quorum and securing a clear mandate from the student body.
Meanwhile, Vince Christian V. Bubuli, also ran uncontested for vice presidency garnering 672 votes.
In addition, incumbent SSC senator Marlita Mae Tolentino topped the senatorial race with 462 votes.
Moreover, in the locals, only the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) has a contender.
BAEL’s dominance in the SSC presidency has been a consistent feature of recent elections, with Joey O. Luces serving as SSC president for the 2022–2023 term, followed by Kin F. Sabala for the 2023–2024 term, and Charlene L. Arendaying as the outgoing president.
With Ponce’s election, the BAEL program extends its leadership streak into the 2025–2026 term, continuing its strong influence in student governance.
The SSC and FLP elections are held annually to select student leaders who will represent and advocate for the student body.
This year’s election, marked by mostly uncontested positions, reflects both the continued trust in established student leaders and a growing call for more participation across programs.
