Mary Ann Atanacio, a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) graduating student from CAPSU Mambusao, won third place in the Acting iScool – RMN-Roxas newscasting competition, May 25.
Atanacio was among the twenty-three election volunteer reporters from 657 DYVR and 93.9 iFM of Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) Roxas who competed in the event.
Prior to the competition, participants underwent a newswriting and newscasting workshop facilitated by iDOL Joshua Kenneth Anas of iFM.
The election volunteers were divided into five groups, each with at least four members. Two members served as newscasters while others took on roles such as researcher, newswriter, and technical support.
Her team is composed of John Paul Puerit, Livi Lenzer Abarra, Mila Joy Beldia, and Marvie June Angustia.
The competition was aired live on 657 DYVR and 93.9 iFM and was also streamed via the DYVR RMN and iFM Roxas Facebook pages.
“Masadya ako nga [m]angin kabahin sa sini nga kompetisyon bisan nga wala ko nakuha ang first place nga titulo, kag sa sini nga competition nahanas pa gid ang akon talento, indi lamang sa pagsulat sang balita kundi sa paghaboy man sang balita sa kahanginan,” Atanacio shared in an interview.
Atanacio served as a volunteer reporter during the recently concluded midterm elections under DYVR’s Bantay Balota 2025 coverage.
