NEWS: CAPSU Mambusao holds orientation program

MAMBUSAO, Capiz – The Capiz State University (CAPSU) Mambusao Satellite College Guidance and Counseling Office, in partnership with the Supreme Student Council and the Future Leaders of the Philippines, conducted the welcome-orientation program, August 13.
The event aimed to welcome and guide freshmen as they begin their journey in higher education.
The program officially opened with a prayer, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and Capiz Hymn, performed by the Kalingawan Performing Arts Group.
In his welcome remarks, Satellite College Director Dr. Ramy Lloyd Lotilla warmly greeted the attendees especially the freshmen who are embarking on a new journey in their academic life.
"In behalf of Capiz State University Mambusao Satellite College family I warmly welcome you all to the start of another exciting academic journey, to our incoming freshmen welcome to your new home away from home, this marks the beginning of an important chapter in your life, one filled with challenges, opportunities, and discoveries about yourselves and the world around you," Dr. Lotilla said.
He also encouraged the students to study hard so they can reach their goals and succeed.
The orientation proper began in the morning with the presentation of the faculty and staff, led by Elizabeth Magallanes, giving students a chance to recognize the individuals who will guide and mentor them throughout their academic journey.
Prof. Meschel L. Marcos, designated registrar, then discussed procedures for enrollment, the importance of maintaining academic records, and other registrar-related services.
Meanwhile, Ms. Ruby Lyn A. Viñas, college librarian, explained how students can access learning materials, utilize research resources, and make the most of the library’s facilities.
Afterward, Dr. Herman L. Baranda introduced the National Service Training Program (NSTP), outlining its components and requirements for completion.
The morning session concluded with Prof. Freden S. Delgado, student publication adviser, who spoke about the campus publication and encouraged students to participate in sharing news and stories that matter to the university community.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to student support and extracurricular opportunities.
Dr. Lalaine L. Ricardo, student affairs and services chairperson, presented the various student services available, emphasizing the importance of guidance and welfare programs in fostering a supportive campus environment.
Ms. Kimberly D. Azarcon then highlighted the socio-cultural activities that allow students to showcase their creativity and talents through events and performances.
Dr. Janice D. Ballera spoke about sports programs and student housing services, motivating students to engage in athletics and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
Mr. Francis Carl Figarola discussed the medical and dental services offered on campus, ensuring students that their health and well-being are priorities of the university.
Lastly, Ms. Rica M. Llorito introduced the range of scholarships and financial assistance programs available to help students achieve their academic goals.
An open forum followed all the talks allowing students to clarify policies and raise their concerns directly to the faculty and staff.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Ricardo thanked the organizers, speakers, and participants saying for their cooperation.
She also extended her heartfelt appreciation to the facilitators and professors who gave a lot of efforts for their presentation and reminded students that CAPSU is a community where they can learn, grow, and prepare for their future.
The orientation served as both a welcome and a valuable guide for the freshmen as they embarked on their academic journey at CAPSU Mambusao.
Orientation programs like this play a vital role in familiarizing new students with their rights, responsibilities, and the rules and regulations of the university. It also serves as a venue for them to get to know the people, offices, and services that will support them throughout their college years.
