MAMBUSAO, Capiz - Dr. Marife R. Hilapad once again proved her dominance in research paper presentation when she bagged the Best Paper and Best Paper Presenter awards during CAPSU’s 43rd University Faculty Research, Development, and Extension Symposium held on August 12-13 at Gerry Roxas Foundation Training and Convention, Brgy. Dayao, Roxas City, Capiz.
This year’s symposium was anchored on the theme “Leveraging CAPSU's Strengths in Innovation and Technology Optimization through Comprehensive Research, Development, and Extension.”
Dr. Hilapad’s study with co-researchers Prof. Emely J. Escala, Cyril L. Llorente and Favie Gelyn V. Bardinas entitled “Optimizing Buffalo Milk Spread: A Study on the Role of Carboxymethylcellulose and Sugar in Product Quality” bested the other five papers presented during the symposium under the food research category.
Dr. Hilapad’s victory was a repeat of the same feat she accomplished last year during the 42nd edition of the symposium.
She also won the Best Paper award for her study entitled “Osmotic Dehydration of Kamias (Averrhoa bilimbi): Optimized Formulation, Physico-chemical and Sensory Properties” and a runner-up finish for her other study “Utilization and Evaluation of Sweet Potato as Filler in Meatball Formulation."
Dr. Hilapad is the former program coordinator of the Bachelor of Science in Food Technology program and now designated as the Director of the University’s Food and Industrial Research and Development Center.
