The ABTech Thunders, a coalition of Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BAEL) and Bachelor of Science in Food Technology (BSFT), have once again proven that they are a force to be reckoned with, securing yet another overall championship title in this year’s Intramural Meet and reaffirming their status as perennial champions.
The Thunders have once again proven their dominance in the different sports and athletic events and in the culture and the arts festival held during the intramural meet on September 9-12, crushing the first runner-up Tech Titans (BS in Computer Science 2, 3 & 4) and second runner-up SciSOA Foxes (BS in Office Administration and BS in Computer Science 1).
Year after year, the Thunders have demonstrated consistency, excellence, and unmatched teamwork — and this season was no exception. With dominant performances across a wide array of sports and athletic events, ABTech once again stood tall above the competition.
In a stunning showcase of talent, creativity and relentless spirit, the Thunders also emerged the undisputed champions across literary, musical, and dance, sweeping victories and solidifying the team’s reputation as a powerhouse of both intellect and artistic flair.
This year, ABTech Thunders surpassed their last year’s performance. They both topped the sports and athletics and the culture and the arts festival. Though they were proclaimed overall champions last year, they only topped the culture and the arts festival but fell short in sports and athletics. Thanks to the talented BAEL and BSFT students who earned massive points in the performing arts enough to capture the overall championship crown.
While other teams also showcased pockets of brilliance, the Thunders’ secret weapon was their depth of involvement across all events.
Prof. Freden S. Delgado, a faculty member in the BAEL, shared during his victory speech on behalf of the Thunders that making sure that the team had participants in all events was key to their overwhelming success in the Intramural Meet 2025.
“During our meeting, we identified coordinators for every event and instructed them to identify participants. I emphasized to them that we should never lose by default. Indeed, we had participants in all events,” Prof. Delgado said.
Based on his observation, AB Tech Thunders came in last in sports and athletics last year due to the team’s poor participation in athletic events. They only got one podium finish across all events.
“Last year, athletics was our major setback as we got only one win due to limited participation. But this year, we fielded more than twenty athletes in running, jumping, and throwing events, which made us secure the top spot in athletics,” Prof. Delgado shared their upset in the previous intramural meet and how they changed the outcome this year.
Coaches and faculty from ABTech credited the win to the students' discipline and their commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics.
“This victory is more than just another trophy — it’s a reflection of a legacy built on hard work, passion, and unity,” said Prof. Delgado. “Every athlete on this team plays with heart, and that’s what makes the difference.”
The ABTech Thunders’ continued dominance has inspired a strong sense of pride within the BAEL and BSFT community. Students and faculty have rallied behind the team, whose legacy now spans multiple championship seasons.
As the final whistle blew and the championship banner was raised once more, one thing became clear: the thunder isn’t fading — it’s only growing stronger. With a culture built on discipline, resilience, and teamwork, ABTech’s dynasty in the Intramural Meet shows no signs of slowing down. ABTech sets its sights on yet another championship next year, determined to keep the thunder rolling.
