Personnel of Capiz State University (CAPSU) Mambusao Satellite College actively participated in the simultaneous regionwide earthquake drill held on October 24, as part of the government’s continuing efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness and resilience among academic institutions.
The activity is a "simultaneous exercise" to enhance campus awareness, readiness, and coordination in responding to seismic hazards, ensuring that personnel are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary during emergency situations.
At exactly 3:00 P.M., the emergency alarm was sounded across the campus, prompting faculty and staff to perform the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure before proceeding to designated evacuation areas. Campus safety officers and response teams demonstrated proper evacuation protocols, ensuring that everyone was familiar with emergency exits and assembly points.
Dr. Ramy Lloyd L. Lotilla, Satellite College Director, emphasized the importance of such drills in fostering a culture of safety and preparedness within the university community.
The CAPSU Mambusao participation underscores the university’s commitment to supporting national disaster resilience programs and promoting a safe learning environment for all.
The simultaneous regionwide earthquake drill was conducted following the series of earthquakes in the Visayas and Mindanao that also affected Western Visayas, particularly the Province of Capiz.
Since CAPSU has been implementing the asynchronous learning modality since October 20 until today, students were not involved in the activity.
