Capiz State University (CAPSU) and the ASEAN Youth Organization officially forged their partnership during the MOU signing ceremony on February 5 at the CAPSU Roxas City (Main) Campus Dadivas Gymnasium. This collaboration represents a key step toward strengthening artificial intelligence education and supporting the digital advancement of students and faculty members.
The program formally opened with a welcome address from Dr. Salvacion J. Legaspi, Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages. She, in her address, stressed the significance of innovation, efficiency, and collaboration wherein such endeavors particularly aim to build the future of the university and impact society in general.
The MOU was read and explained to the audience by Dr. Rosel L. Dionio, Head of the Digital Transformation Office, who explained the provisions, objectives, and outcomes of the MOU. This was followed by the signing of the MOU, which was the highlight of the event.
CAPSU President Dr. Efren L. Linan, in his acceptance remarks, emphasized the vital role of integrating education, technological innovation, and regional collaboration.
“Today, we formalize a collaboration where education, technology, and solidarity intersect. This MOU hopes to facilitate the development of AI-ready training programs that create knowledge, skills, and values; foster collaboration as well as mutual learning among CAPSU students, professors, and the ASEAN Youth Organization; and sustain research, innovation, and community engagement to tackle actual problems, as envisioned by ASEAN to realize a future-ready youth and a future-ready region,” Dr. Linan said.
Also present in the meeting was Ms. Vivian, representative of the ASEAN Youth Organization, who offered support for the empowerment of youth through cooperation in the countries of the ASEAN and through technopreneurships.
Meanwhile, Senjaya Mulia, founder of the ASEAN Youth Organization, noted that the partnership recognizes the role of technology in unifying nations, improving communities, and creating an ethical, inclusive, and humane future.
Immediately following the signing ceremony, AI-Ready ASEAN Program Master Trainer Nina Mae R. Quimpo conducted an AI training session. The students active in prepared activities introduced them to some of the key concepts and applications of artificial intelligence.
The activity employed a hybrid training approach, allowing on-site participation and enabling participants from various campuses to join remotely, thereby ensuring wider participation and inclusivity.
The event marked the start of a collaborative partnership between CAPSU and the ASEAN Youth Organization aimed at integrating AI-focused initiatives into academic instruction, research, and community-based programs to support the development of future-ready learners.
