Capiz State University (CAPSU) reaffirmed its commitment to unity and transformative education as it celebrated its 22nd University Day on March 17 at the Dadivas Gymnasium in Roxas City Main Campus.
The event brought together university officials, faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders from various campuses and satellite colleges, highlighting this year’s theme, “ONE CAPSU: United in Purpose, Transforming Lives.”
In his welcome address, University President Efren L. Linan emphasized that the university’s growth is anchored on collaboration and collective effort toward a shared vision.
“It is the work of many hands and many hearts moving toward a shared vision. We strengthen our ability to transform lives through education, research, culture, and service,” President Linan said.
Messages of support from government leaders highlighted CAPSU’s role in shaping future generations and sustaining quality education.
Hon. Thea Faith T. Reyes, member of the CAPSU Board of Regents, represented Sen. Loren Legarda. She credited the university community for driving the institution’s continued pursuit of excellence and entrusting its future to its stakeholders.
“Kamo ang gapadayon for making CAPSU a center of excellence in education. This is because of you—faculty, staff, officials, and of course, students. It is now in your hands kung paano ninyo padayunon ang CAPSU,” Atty. Reyes said.
Atty. Luvim D. Amores, Provincial Public Information Officer (PIO) and concurrent Human Resource Management Officer (HRMO), represented Capiz Governor Hon. Fredenil H. Castro. He underscored that the University serves not only as an academic institution but also as a space where aspirations are nurtured.
“A university is more than just a school… it is our home—home of our dreams, aspirations, friends, and campus memories we carry in our hearts,” Atty. Amores said.
Meanwhile, Maayon Mayor Hon. Raymon D. Malapajo represented First District Representative Hon. Ivan Howard A. Guintu. He encouraged the academic community to remain forward-looking and committed to delivering quality education.
“May this occasion inspire us to move forward with purpose in shaping the future for the next generation—not just in answering the needs of students but in ensuring quality education,” Mayor Malapajo said.
Roxas City Mayor Hon. Ronnie T. Dadivas was represented by Atty. Julius C. Daliva, Chief of Staff of the Roxas City government. He expressed optimism that the university would continue to influence generations through education and development.
“May Capiz State University continue to be a pillar of learning and development for many generations to come. Let us continue to walk hand in hand toward unity, progress, and transformation,” Atty. Daliva said.
The celebration also featured cultural performances, including choral presentations, indigenous dances, and theatrical acts, showcasing the diverse talents of CAPSU students.
A recognition segment honored key partners and outgoing members of the Board of Regents, acknowledging their contributions to the university’s growth and development.
In her closing remarks, Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino emphasized the importance of ethical leadership in sustaining institutional strength as she prepares for her retirement in April.
“When leaders serve with honesty, transparency, and accountability, the institution will always stand strong. I am confident that the future of Capiz State University will not only endure—it will flourish and reach even greater heights,” Dr. Martelino said.
The program concluded with a unified performance involving attendees, symbolizing solidarity and reinforcing CAPSU’s vision of collective progress.
